Radio Witham has won an award for its documentary programme "Spire Story", in the "Best Speech Package" category of the Hospital Broadcasting Association's awards. The HBA's annual awards recognises the very best hospital radio stations, programmes, and presenters, and competition between stations from all over the UK is fierce.

"Spire Story" is a two part documentary, that takes the form of a guided tour around one of Grantham's most notable landmarks, St. Wulfram's church. The programme includes interviews with the people that help keep the church running, and are most familiar with its history and present day function.

The programme won the Silver award, placing it second nationally in the "Best Speech Package" category, which was sponsored by IRN. Gold winners were Hospital Radio Perth, and Bronze was awarded to Winchester Hospital Radio.

This year's awards ceremony was held in Leeds, and marks the start of Hospital Broadcasting Week.
